A group of concerned parents founded the Epilepsy Services of West Central Florida, Inc. in 1973. It has grown from an organization that hosted support groups in one of the founder’s homes to one that now works with more than 2,100 children and adults with epilepsy and their families or caregivers.

The Epilepsy Services of West Central Florida serves people in Hillsborough, Polk, Hardee and Highlands counties. Persons with epilepsy can participate in a number of agency programs: medical care and treatment, case management, employment counseling and placement, prevention and education and camp.

The Epilepsy Services of West Central Florida is part of a statewide association. The state organization is called the Florida Epilepsy Services Providers’ Association and is made up of eleven organizations.
